Building Your Custom Home

Before Construction Begins

When building your custom home, the process begins long before construction starts. At Colonial Homes, we first spend time learning how you want to live, what you need from your home, and what matters most to you.

If you already own property, we look closely at the lot itself, including views, access, drainage, orientation, and how the home should sit on the site. Our team works with you during this early planning stage so the house feels like it belongs on the property rather than simply being placed there.

Turning Your Ideas Into a Home

From there, we begin developing the floor plan and architectural details. Because we are a true custom builder, you are not limited to a small collection of plans or predetermined packages. Your home can be shaped around your family, your routines, your budget, and the spaces you actually want.

This is also the best time to work through details that could affect cost or function later. We can adjust room sizes, improve traffic flow, eliminate wasted space, and think through everything from entertaining areas and home offices to outdoor living.

Making the Selections

Once the plans are taking shape, our interior design team helps you work through materials, finishes, colors, fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, and other selections. There are a lot of decisions involved in building a home, so we help narrow the choices and make sure everything works together.

You still make the decisions. Our job is to give you experienced guidance and help you create a home that feels like yours.

Construction, Communication and Closing

As construction begins, Chad and Nate Delagrange stay involved, coordinating meetings, questions, changes, and the many details that come up along the way. Our experienced trades and craftsmen bring the plans to life with the same attention to quality of all of our custom homes.

When construction is complete, we walk you through the finished home and prepare for closing. Our relationship does not end when you receive the keys, either. John Hoffman serves as a contact for follow-up service after closing, so you know who to call if something needs attention.

Colonial Homes has been building custom homes since 1976, and through every stage of the process, our focus remains the same: building a home around the way you want to live.
